Panda News 2 : #BBpandaoupas ?

Evénement de la plus haute importance : la saison des amours est à son comble chez nos pandas ! Seule période de l’année où Huan Huan et Yuan Zi peuvent se retrouver pour s’accoupler (pendant 48h!). Les vétérinaires du ZooParc, aidés du spécialiste chinois, ont attendu la période la plus propice pour mettre en contact Huan Huan et Yuan Zi et ainsi tenter une reproduction naturelle. Notre couple s’est donc retrouvé dans « ses appartements privés » mais les retrouvailles n’ont pas été couronnées de succès… A notre grand désespoir ! Mais, il en fallait plus pour décourager nos équipes qui comptent sur la naissance d’un bébé panda pour participer à la préservation de cette espèce porte-drapeau de la menace qui pèse sur la biodiversité ! Les mises en contact n’ayant pas été concluantes, les équipes viennent de réaliser une insémination pour donner toutes les chances à Huan Huan de concevoir un joli bébé. Croisons les doigts… et attendons de voir si des signes significatifs se manifestent dans quelques semaines…

Event of the highest importance: the mating season is at its peak at our pandas! The only period during the year when Huan Huan and Yuan Zi can meet to mate (during 48H!). The veterinarians of the ZooParc, helped by the Chinese specialist, have been waiting for the most favorable period to gather Huan Huan and Yuan Zi and therefore attempt a natural reproduction.

Our couple therefore met in its “private apartments”, but the reunion was not successful… to our big dismay! But, more was needed to discourage our teams that count on the birth of a baby panda to participate to the preservation of this standard-bearer species, to avoid the threat on the biodiversity!

As the attempt of contact were not conclusive, the teams just realized an insemination to give Huan Huan a chance to conceive a beautiful baby.  Fingers crosses… and wait to see if significant signs appear within a few weeks…
